Choosing the Best Airline Credit Card

Frequent flyers have to types of credit cards to choose from when they want to earn miles towards a free flight. The first type is the airline specific credit card. The miles you earn can only be used at one airline. That means if you carry an American Airlines credit card the miles earned on that card will be deposited into your American Airlines frequent flyer program, however always check the terms and conditions of your frequent flyer program as you may be allowed to use miles with partner airlines.

If you do not want to be limited to one airline there is also the opportunity to choose a miles program sponsored by the credit card issuer that allows you to earn miles towards any major airline and when you redeem there is no blackout dates to worry about.

Many credit card offers come with signup bonuses that award you a number of miles after your first purchase. The signup bonus often get you halfway or more towards a free domestic flight after your first purchase. If you are a small business owner you can also earn miles with business credit cards and earn miles twice as fast, also do not forget that getting a signup bonus for the business credit card as well can get you a free trip to begin with.
